Did Fox really put bad math over softball coach (soccer coach for yall at KBMT.) It is hard to believe that even Fox would be so lame. Especially when you consider a story like preteen sex with the coach is right up Fox's alley!
I work for FOX 4 and I want to say that I really like it there. The work atmosphere is one of the most laid back I have ever experienced. I think our station is trying to appeal to a younger crowd. I have to agree that Philip Klein doesn't have a clue what he's talking about but Mike is one of the most personable guys on the air I have ever worked with. I thought Nick was equally as impressive with his creativity and originality and wish he would not have left.
FOX4 is a class act, especially after that stupid UTube video revealing the identity of Trog. May I suggest you hit the streets and find something newsworthy instead of playing around the studio.
The weather people at KBTV are awful, just awful. You want to get serious, get an actual person who can do the weather and we not worry about what their wig is going to look like, or bless his heart, a cartoon character from the 1940s.
The folks that run KBTV just don't know what they are doing. Part of the problem is that they have a rotating door policy in the management department. The only manager that has any real tenure at the station is the Production/Promotions manager, who is seriously lacking. I believe Angel San Juan means well, but he doesn't have to chops to be a News Director. As for the on-air people, they earn their tiny paychecks. When you are scraping the bottom of the barrel for recent college grads to make up your on-air staff, you aren't going to find much quality. Somehow KFDM and KBMT manages to do it, but I don't think KBTV will ever have what it takes to be anything more than a joke. Not news...not entertainment...just a joke. I think that is why they make fun of themselves so often. If you can't beat them, join them.
Pay scraping the bottom? My guess is that the LOWEST paid anchor in this market is NOT on food stamps! Everyone knows these people get their job based 30 percent on ability and 70 percent on looks. If you want real journalists reading the news you should lower the pay scale. At least that way the glamour gals and pretty boys would go into modeling, acting or some other ego inflating job.

I'm not one to bash Fox 4 (at least not as often as some of this blog's posters)...but this is just plain ridiculous. Read the poorly written story below, and you will know what I mean.
Fox 4 usually reports crimes against people, its not often that the camera is turned on us. And we find ourselves the victims in the spotlight. Unfortunately, we are. At the beginning of this month a group of people drove up to our transmitter. That's what sends out our signal as a television station. They stole from us, and now, they're part of an investigation. You're looking at our cameras catching thieves in the act. "Friday, March the 4th a car drove up, three people got out, two of them were men, one was a woman. The woman got into the drivers side, she left the transmitter sight. The two men walked around our transmitter yard and cut two different places on our fence and stole some grounding cable," says Fox 4 Chief Engineer Todd Tomplait. On the surveillance video we can tell that three people do pull up but then the two men come back here and cut through the fence to get into the area. Then they cut through the copper wire and take it. All of that, has to be replaced. "From what I have been able to assess the cost to the fence cutting, the copper that was taken, probably between $1,000 and $1,500," says Tomplait. The money has to be spent, because copper wiring is something a T.V. Station transmitter can't be without. "Primarily for television with the transmitter tower, it's to keep lightning from striking the tower. It's for grounding purposes," says Tomplait. There are surveillance video warnings all around the area. So the thieves might realize that a T.V. Station, caught them on camera. "You would hope that people would go out and work for what they get instead of taking what someone else has. But it is the world we live in, it's just something that happens. It is disheartening a little bit," says Tomplait. The copper thieves hit other station transmitters to try and make another quick buck. Now we do what others do in a case of theft, we amp up security. "It's something that i hate to see happen. We've never had an issue out there before. We will be stepping up our security measures in the hopes that we don't have any future loss," says Tomplait. Tomplait says he has turned over the video to the Sheriff's Office and the crime is being investigated.
Sources at Fox4 have learned from their in-house political commentator and investigator that the video reveals the corpse of Patrick McDermott stealing the cooper wire. More on this as it develops.

They did a great story on BISD, but sadly, that has not been their standard in the past few years. The standard at KFDM lately has been 2 boring white guys telling lame jokes in the morning, an over-the-top white lady main anchor wearing Mardi-Gras beads all year long and Larry Beaulieu. Let's hope they get a fire under their asses once they go high def and kick butt once again. Wouldn't it be nice if KFDM was a real news operation like it use to be?

Hi BU-3 I actually hopped on a plane! I am in the middle of a project in LA right now, and one in Texas in the next few weeks. My husband and I want to stay in SETX, so we will continue hosting and working with local charities from breast cancer awareness to animal rescue organizations. Mark loves his job with the city, and we have lots of family and friends here!
