Within a hour of Beaumont Police Chief Frank Coffin announcing his retirement three local names were already being circulated as possible successor.
Those names are Zena Stephens, Jimmy Singletary and Ray Beck.
Stephens is the long time chief deputy of Jefferson County Sheriff Mitch Woods, she is also a former Beaumont Police Officer. If she happened to be selected, she would become the first woman and first African-American Police Chief.
Major Jimmy Singletary is also with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and worked for the Beaumont Police Department as well. He's been a part of the narcotics division and SWAT.
Lt. Ray Beck has been with the Beaumont Police Department for over 30 years and is currently over the Police Department's traffic division.
Although these names are being mentioned as possible contenders the search for Coffin's replacement will be nation wide.

I think we should all take a moment and remember what day it is. Five years ago, the Westbrook girls soccer team was involved in a horrible bus accident that killed two young lives and injured many others. Lets take a moment to remember them.
And lets also remember that our dear friend, compassionate friend, Philip Klein, referred to them on his radio show as "a bunch of smelly little girls."
